About Us

The Oxford Brookes Real Estate Management Society (“OBREMS” or “the Society”) is an alumni association of Oxford Brookes University (“the University”) graduates who work in the real estate sector. The Society’s membership predominantly consists of trainee and Chartered Surveyors who have studied at the Real Estate Management Department of the University. The Society is also open to real estate alumni of the University who are working in fields allied to the property market (such as banking, the law, marketing and recruitment).

The Society has been formed to arrange social events at which members and their guests will be able to meet and network in an informal setting, in order that the profile of its members may be raised within the property sector and allied professions.  This is OBREMS’ short-term objective and will involve attempting to expand its membership base as rapidly as possible.

In the medium and long-terms, OBREMS will aim to assist the University to raise its profile and status as an internationally leading centre of real estate education and research. It is intended that this aim will be achieved both through raising the profile of the University’s alumni as well as through direct support to the University and its students. Support to the University may be, for example, in the form of financial contributions towards the running of academic courses or research projects, whereas support to students may be by way of mentoring or the provision of sponsorships or scholarships. To this end, it is intended that there will be a close working relationship between the Society’s committee and Real Estate department at the University.
